Helpful Tips for Better Natural Light Portraits

Many photographers love to shoot natural light portraits for a variety of reasons, and with them come their own sets of challenges. This awesome video will give lots of tips to shoot better and more creative natural light portraits.

Coming to you from Taylor Jackson and featuring Miguel Quiles, this awesome video features lots of tips to improve your natural light portraits. Many photographers love natural light portraits both because they don't require any artificial light and because they can create a very organic, pleasing look, but they also offer the opportunity for a ton of creativity if you choose to embrace that chance. On that topic, my favorite tip was simply to not always shoot wide open. There's a tendency to shoot at very wide apertures with these shots simply because they can isolate your subject easily and turn a messy or distracting background into a pleasing blur, but taking the time to find a spot in which your subject can integrate with the environment can create a final image that's more visually compelling and possibly more interesting than the standard shots we're used to seeing. Check out the video above for all of Jackson's and Quiles' helpful tips.

Excellent stuff. I noticed it was a nice generally overcast day, too. Final tip, if you have an overcast day, you're in luck. :)
