Horrendous First Pitch at Red Sox Game Gives Photographer Very Bad Day

The first lesson I learned about shooting baseball was to always be aware of where the ball is. One photographer lost track of it for a brief moment, and it resulted in a very bad day for him.

The ceremonial first pitch at a baseball game is always a bit of a crap shoot, as most people actually have a really tough time accurately throwing a baseball 60 feet and 6 inches. One photographer learned that lesson the hard way tonight at the Red Sox game:

In a funny twist, the photographer captured the moment just before the fateful blow:

I have to say that as a diehard Cleveland devotee, it appears the fan was simply doing his best David Price postseason impression. The unlucky photographer, Tony Capobianco, tweeted that thankfully, the pitch was "just a bit outside." It's rare that a ceremonial first pitch makes the evening highlights, but I have no doubt this one will be making the rounds for a bit of time.
